Donkey

For over five years now The Donkey has not only built a reputation as an intimate venue, with a live-wire atmosphere, but for presenting low-key gigs by major name acts. Drawn by appreciative audiences and great sound the 200 capacity Victorian room has played host to such great acts as: Fun Lovin Criminals, Alabama 3, Seth Lakeman, New Beautiful South, Michelle Shocked, David Ford, The Slackers, Pete Molinari, John Power, Miles Hunt, Martin Stephenson, Toploader, Wreckless Eric, The High Llamas, Los Pistoleros, Dawn Kinnard, Vijay Kishore, Dr. Robert, Rhoda Dakar, Roddy Radiation, Charlie Chuck, Tommy Womack, New Cool Collective, El Pussycat Ska, Kingsize, Kingston Town, El Mahico, David Wyatt, The Kirkland Turn, Out Of Karma, M48, Drugstore Cowboys, Uncle Frank and Fatal Star.

Both landlord Warren’s legendary bonhomie and promoter Gaz Birtles knowledge of the music business are evident in the care and love shown to all aspects of this independent establishment. It’s an approach that above anything else treats both musicians and customers alike as friends.

Located on the just outside of Leicester city centre and close to De Montfort University, the Donkey also boasts a large beer garden and car park, free WiFi and offers a wide range of lagers, bottled beer, wine and real ales as well as fresh ground coffee daily.

Firebug

Opened in the summer of 2004, Firebug has fast become an essential part of Leicester’s night life and a quiet retreat from city centre shoppers during the day. A light and spacious main bar is complemented by a surprisingly quiet and sheltered beer garden. Boasting one of the cities most extensive drinks ranges, a carefully selected cocktail menu and a great selection of home-cooked food available every day.

Firebug’s relaxed dress code and music policy attracts visitors from all walks of life – from students at the near-by universities to professionals working in the city centre and has a reputation nationally as an essential stopping point for visitors to the city.

Proving incredibly popular for private parties, intimate club nights, live music and stand-up comedy, as well as photography and art exhibitions, independent film screenings and all manner of other events. O2 Academy

The Shed is situated in the heart of Leicester, was born back in 1994 and has been a showcase for the very best in Local and National Underground Outfits Tending in the main to Promote Unsigned Bands up and coming Groups and Artistes both local and out of town.
